You could scroll another hundred articles on superfoods...
Or you could actually master how to cook with them, heal your body, and impress your friends without ever mentioning the word “kale” again.

Cooking with Yoshiko invites you into the real-deal world of Japanese superfoods as medicine — where dashi, daikon, shiitake, and ancient wisdom come together to transform your kitchen, your immune system, and possibly your entire outlook on life.

About Cooking with Yoshiko

Chef Yoshiko Takeuchi isn’t just another cooking instructor — she's a culinary powerhouse with 20 years of kitchen cred, two bestselling cookbooks, and a history that includes Sydney’s finest restaurants and The Biggest Loser. She’s here to show you how traditional Japanese foods don’t just nourish you — they heal you.

Who This Experience is For

  • Wellness warriors looking for real, delicious ways to boost immunity.

  • Food lovers ready to ditch the chemicals and embrace natural healing.

  • Home cooks wanting dishes that taste good and fix your gut.

  • Anyone who thinks food should be your best medicine — not your slowest poison.

What to Expect

This isn’t your typical lecture-and-sample workshop. You’ll be hands-on from the start — mixing, stirring, healing — all without the dreaded dishwashing duty.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll dive into:

  • Super easy, tasty flu medicine made with Kuzu and apple (two ways).

  • Umeboshi concoction to settle your flu, digestion, or stubborn stomach aches.

  • Healing detox soup loaded with Japanese dashi, daikon, kuzu, shiitake, and ginger.

  • Cauliflower and shiitake fried rice — wok-fired or oven-baked, your choice.

  • Amazake pudding with raw kiwi sauce — a gut-loving dessert you’ll dream about.

Every class is served with a calming cup of premium matcha green tea — because balance, obviously.

Highlights

  • Taught by Chef Yoshiko Takeuchi — cookbook author, restaurant veteran, and TV personality.

  • Detailed demonstrations plus hands-on cooking experience (no washing up required).

  • All recipes are plant-based, gut-friendly, and designed to power your immune system naturally.

  • Walk away with full recipes, ready to impress your crew at your next dinner party.

  • Experience the real secrets of Japanese health, longevity, and flavor — from someone who actually knows.

Final Word

Your medicine cabinet could use a serious upgrade — and it starts in your kitchen.
Skip the supplements. Stir the pot. Heal yourself deliciously.

What to Bring

  • A yoga mat (yep, you’re going horizontal for this one)

  • A journal + pen (because big feelings deserve ink)

What to Wear

Whatever makes you feel cozy, relaxed, and like you could survive a five-hour nap without needing a recovery day.

Who Can Attend

Short answer: Everyone.
Longer answer: If you have lungs, a heartbeat, and a slight suspicion that there’s more to life than unread emails — you’re in.

Photography Note

There may be a few candid snaps for socials.
If you’d prefer your inner zen to stay off the grid, just let the facilitator know before the session begins.

Meet the Facilitator — Alex Borthwick

Alex Borthwick isn’t just hosting — she’s your guide to a calmer, more grounded you.
Her own journey started back in 2020 on the Gold Coast, where breathwork cracked open a new way of living.
Now a Level 2 Breathwork Facilitator, Alex has guided hundreds through transformations that stick — blending business savvy with holistic techniques for real-world change.
When you're with Alex, you're not just another attendee — you're part of a bigger, bolder movement toward inner peace.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • You’ll leave more centered, less frazzled, and way less tempted to throw your phone into the sea.

  • It's science-backed and soul-approved — because deep breaths aren't just for yogis.

  • Breathe Sydney brings serious credentials — expert facilitators, real techniques, no fluff.
