World Gym Marrickville isn’t just a gym... it’s the Inner West’s first serious attempt at putting a full training club, wellness suite and recovery destination under one very large roof.
2,400 square metres of converted refrigeration warehouse, completely rebuilt by Majestic Construction Group into what is shaping up to be the most complete fitness and recovery destination the suburb has ever seen. A wellness suite that belongs in a day spa. Reformer Pilates. HYROX. A café. A crèche. Commercial Bose audio pumping through every zone. And an owner, Con Zeritis, Marrickville born and bred, who actually gives a damn about the neighbourhood he’s building this for.
This is not a spin-off of a chain gym formula. Con previously ran World Gym Maitland, but Marrickville is the one he always wanted. The Inner West has the training culture, the running clubs, the CrossFit boxes, the boutique Pilates studios. What it was missing was a single address where someone could do a reformer class, sit in a sauna for 20 minutes, jump in a cold plunge and then order a protein shake without getting back in their car.
Built Different
The EV and Bose commercial audio system is installed across the entire facility, training floors, recovery zones, reformer areas. Large-format commercial displays throughout. This isn’t a gym that had AV bolted on as an afterthought. The sound and energy were designed into the bones of the build.
Equipment brands read like a who’s who of the industry: Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, Panatta, Newtech, AlphaFit and Matrix. Dedicated lifting platforms and racks. Specialty bars. A free weight setup built for people who take their training seriously, alongside a comfort training area designed specifically for newcomers who want to build confidence before stepping into the main lifting zones.

World Gym as a brand has 49 years of strength culture behind it. Marrickville leans into that hard. Dedicated lifting platforms, racks, specialty bars, and a free weight setup that will keep serious lifters genuinely happy. But they’ve also made sure the layout, coaching and induction processes make those areas feel approachable for people just starting out.
This is the balance most gyms get wrong. They either build for the powerlifter and alienate the beginner, or they soften everything to appeal to everyone and end up serving nobody particularly well.
