The Sustainability Edge
Bassike’s commitment runs deeper than a compostable swing tag. All garments are made in Australia under Ethical Clothing Australia certification, with transparency across every step, from cotton farm to cutting room. They champion circularity through design-for-longevity, offer lifetime repairs, and prioritise low-impact dyeing and washing processes. Their Byron Bay HQ is solar powered, they’ve eliminated single-use plastics in supply chains, and they publish a public sustainability report annually, because looking good shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense.
The Designers
Founded by Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan, Bassike (pronounced “basic”) started as a luxe tee line and grew into a full ready-to-wear label that shaped modern Australian minimalism. Still independently owned, still ethically made.
