MUSSET Pastured Eggs are laid by hens that have been raised outdoors on open fields. The birds live in smaller flocks and usually in mobile sheds that are rotated around pastured paddocks. Pastured eggs are not 'grass-fed', not in the truest sense of that term because layer hens cannot survive on grass alone. Chickens are omnivores and that means that like you and me, they need a varied diet that consists of a nutritionally balanced feed that includes fibre, energy (carbs) and protein along with essential vitamins and minerals.

Pastured eggs are laid by chickens that are raised on the green pasture, with access to the sun, bugs, and fresh air. The chickens eat a natural omnivore diet full of bugs, the way Mother Nature wanted them to do. To do this properly most producers use large caravans to move the chicken around their paddocks keeping them clean. Musset farm producers pride themselves also on using the highest quality feed, which results in the most nutritious egg possible.
Their chickens are part of a closed-loop production system which feeds their biodynamic vegetable range with all the nutrient-rich manure.
They also have a range of heritage breed laying hens that they have raised themselves to produce amazing coloured and different flavoured eggs including Blue, Green, Cream, Pink and Dark Brown.
A lot of time and effort has gone into expanding their variety of eggs with different flavours. Mussett farm is 39 hectares, consisting of three flocks and totalling 1650 hens.
So, therefore, they have one hen per hectare, which is a ratio of less than 50.

A special macro pellet is used on their Eggs farm to feed their pasture-raised hens with the right balance of nutrients and minerals. This feed provides the right ingredients to give great-tasting eggs.
Our feed is free from GMO grain and Meat Meal but includes probiotic yeast / enzymes.
Benefits of Eating Raw Eggs
It's a common query these days to ask about the consumption of raw eggs and in particular whether it's beneficial to eat raw egg whites. The yolks are easy to digest but raw but egg whites should not be consumed on a regular basis, as they contain a substance called avidin which interferes with the absorption of biotin, a B vitamin. They also contain trypsin inhibitors which interfere with protein digestion. You might experience stomach cramps if you consume raw whites on a regular basis for this reason. These anti-nutrients (like lectins - the toxic plant protein( and are neutralised by cooking.
Bottom line: your body can easily digest raw egg YOLKS, but its best to cook the egg whites as omelettes & scrambled eggs.

It's common practice that most nutritional labels on egg cartons only analyse the prepared feed and completely ignore the foraged food.
Eggs should be super high in Omega 3 levels and better Omega 3:6 ratios. This will be due to the diversity of bugs, insects and plants hens are able to eat in biodynamic pastures, and its the plants they eat (including weeds) that give the yolks a super (or golden) yellow colour."
How to Maximise the Shelf Life of your Organic Eggs
- To maximise shelf life keep them refrigerated at all times.
- Eggs will last much longer when they are stored in the main body of the fridge still in their carton and not in the egg rack at the top of the fridge.
- Eggs should be discarded if left out for more than 2 hours at room temperature as bacteria can grow rapidly
- To further extend the shelf life of your eggs, freeze them but NOT in their shells.
- To freeze whole eggs: (1) Remove eggs from their shells; (2) Pierce yolks and gently mix in 1/2 teaspoon of salt for every one cup of raw eggs (if using eggs for main dishes) or 1 tablespoon of sugar (if using for baking or desserts); (3) Place in covered airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags and freeze.
- Raw eggs will last approximately 10-12 months in the freezer but must be kept constantly frozen at zero degrees.
- Hard boiled eggs will generally remain safe to eat or one week in the fridge. Freezing hard boiled eggs is not recommended.
- If your raw egg has gone bad it will have a very flat yolk and the white will be runny and watery.

Please advise if you would like to physically sign for your package and we will ensure the driver does not leave your order until it has been signed. This information is acquired during the checkout process, before payment, under “delivery instructions”. We also ship to PO boxes by only if shipping is via Australia Post. If you would like to sign for your order and it’s being shipped via Australia Post, there is an additional $2 service fee.
Note: if you request for your order to be signed on delivery and no one is home to sign when the courier arrives, we are unable to take responsibility for any items that have spoiled as a result of being returned to our third-party transport company.
If it is perishable items (fresh produce & broth), we prefer not to leave it outside for more than an hour and recommend having someone home; friend, neighbour or family member to sign for it.
