Cinnamon quills are a spice made from the inner bark of the cinnamon trees of which there are many varieties. The use of cinnamon as an aromatic spice can be dated to as far back as ancient Egypt.

These certified organic Cinnamomum Zeylanicum quills (known as true or Ceylon cinnamon) have a sweeter, more delicate flavour than cassia. Popular in spice mixes, sweet or savoury recipes, and hot or cold beverages.

Cinnamon is a beautiful and versatile spice. A fabulous flavour-enhancer often used in baking and cooking. Medicinal properties include: digestive aid, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, warming and grounding, antiviral and anti-fungal. Cinnamon is an effective herb for strengthening and harmonising the flow of circulation.

Used in Ayurvedic medicine for tooth ache, muscle tension, colds and flus, and is also considered to strengthen the heart, warm the kidneys and promote healthy digestion. A universal medicine that adds flavour, sweetness, aroma and warmth to food.

How to Use 

The fragrant sweetness of Cinnamon is a delicious addition to smoothies, porridge, yoghurt or acai bowls. Sprinkle over pancakes, waffles and French toast. Add some to stewed fruit, puddings and home baked goods. Or use this organic Ceylon cinnamon in raw treats, ice cream and chocolate. Ground cinnamon is a great addition to spice mixes for curries, hot pots, marinades and rubs. An essential ingredient in chai tea, cinnamon is also delicious in hot chocolate or coffee – where it can be used in place of sugar.

Organic cinnamon is used in baking, stewed fruits, curries, drinks such as chai, mulled wine and chocolate drinks. It also provides flavour to homemade chutneys, pickles and relishes.

Organic cinnamon is thought to be one of the oldest spices in the world. It is popular in Ayurveda, where is is used as a remedy for diabetes, indigestion and colds. The bark from the 'Cinnamomum Verum' plant is removed, dried and rolled into quills in Sri Lanka, India.

What is the shelf life of cinnamon quills?

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Will have a shelf life of up to 2 years when stored as above. See Best Before date.

Please advise if you would like to physically sign for your package and we will ensure the driver does not leave your order until it has been signed. This information is acquired during the checkout process, before payment, under “delivery instructions”.  We also ship to PO boxes by only if shipping is via Australia Post. If you would like to sign for your order and it’s being shipped via Australia Post, there is an additional $2 service fee.

Note: if you request for your order to be signed on delivery and no one is home to sign when the courier arrives, we are unable to take responsibility for any items that have spoiled as a result of being returned to our third-party transport company.

If it is perishable items (fresh produce & broth), we prefer not to leave it outside for more than an hour and recommend having someone home; friend, neighbour or family member to sign for it.
