Mark Wahlberg Secures Growth Equity Investment in Australian Fitness Franchise F45 Training - Valued at AUD$634 Million

F45 Training, an Australian-born company founded in 2012, is now the fastest growing fitness franchise in the world. A press conference was held today in Los Angeles to announce an investment group led by Mark Wahlberg in conjunction with FOD Capital, confirming their minority stake investment in the company to accelerate its global growth plans.

Management  for F45 have declined to confirm any details on the investment amount, however according to The Age, the deal has valued the gym at $US450 million (AUD$634 million).

This partnership was forged to continue high-growth and brand awareness throughout the United States. F45 Training was founded by CEO Rob Deutsch; and with his business partner Adam Gilchrist they will continue to drive the company through this next crucial phase of exponential growth, whilst still maintaining proven functional training methods to millions of health-conscious members around the world.

"This is a monumental transaction for F45 Training. When we started the company, we knew we had something special and had bold plans to create a global fitness movement," said CEO Rob Deutsch. "The immense interest we were able to generate through this process proved the strength of the F45 platform and we are excited to embark on this partnership with Mark Wahlberg and his team of investors. Mr. Wahlberg's genuine passion for fitness, proven business acumen and shared vision for F45 Training made this an ideal fit for the company, and we are proud to welcome him into the F45 family."

Currently the F45 Franchise has grown to over 1,500 studios across 40 countries and shows no sign of slowing down this momentum. Their core methods include 45-minute, station-based training sessions, whilst also incorporating heart-monitored functional training. Their workout regime mergers three leading-edge training styles:

  • High intensity interval training (HIIT)
  • Circuit training and
  • Function training

The fusion of these three styles has developed into 36 unique, 45-minute workout experiences, to keep members engaged and to ensure they achieve the best results and reach their goals.

"Together with my investors, we are excited to be working with F45 Training. The founders of F45 Training have done an incredible job building a global brand, and with this partnership, we hope to continue disrupting the fitness industry," said Mr. Wahlberg. He continued, "The strength of F45 is that people of all fitness levels will find motivation and support in an F45 studio. We look forward to inspiring people all over the world to pursue their health and fitness goals by introducing them to F45."
